Data Transfer and Recovery

There is a real difference between moving files from a working computer and pulling data off a failing drive. We treat them separately, because they carry very different odds.

What we do

What to expect

Data recovery is never guaranteed. Anyone who promises otherwise is not being straight with you. Logical problems, such as deleted files or a corrupted file system on a healthy drive, often go well. Physical failures, including head crashes, motor failure, and severe electronic damage, need specialist facilities we do not have, and even then success is not certain. Continuing to power on a physically failing drive can make things permanently worse, so if you hear clicking or grinding, switch it off and bring it in. We will assess the situation and tell you honestly what the odds look like before you spend anything.

Next step

Request a repair and describe what the computer is doing. We will tell you what we think is going on and what it will take to fix.
